🎭 Stages: Music Hall, The Bronze Peacock, Foundation Room
Located at 1204 Caroline Street inside GreenStreet, House of Blues Houston is one of Downtown’s most recognizable live music venues. The venue blends a classic club atmosphere with a larger concert-hall setup, making it a strong fit for touring rock bands, hip-hop artists, country acts, metal shows, comedy events, tribute bands, and intimate performances from national artists.
The main room is the Music Hall, which is usually general admission and standing room only. House of Blues Houston also includes The Bronze Peacock, a smaller room for more intimate shows, and the Foundation Room, a VIP-style lounge and dining space. That mix gives the venue more personality than a standard theater, but it also means your experience can vary depending on which room your event is in.
Parking & Directions
Getting to House of Blues Houston is straightforward, but Downtown traffic can slow things down before and after a show. The venue is located near Dallas Street, Caroline Street, Fannin Street, and Main Street, with easy access from I-45, I-69/US-59, and the surrounding Downtown grid.
Driving & Parking
House of Blues Houston does not have one large dedicated concert lot like an arena, but parking is available nearby throughout GreenStreet and Downtown Houston. The most convenient option is usually the GreenStreet parking garage, located on Clay Street between Main and Fannin. From there, you can use the skybridge access into GreenStreet and walk to the venue.
Valet service may also be available at the venue, depending on the night. For busy Friday and Saturday shows, it is smart to reserve parking in advance through ParkWhiz or another Downtown parking platform. Nearby surface lots and garages can work too, but event pricing changes quickly when there are also games, conventions, or concerts at Toyota Center, Daikin Park, or other Downtown venues.
If you are parking on the street, read the signs carefully. Downtown Houston has metered spaces, loading zones, tow-away areas, and time restrictions that can be easy to miss in the dark.
Public Transportation & Rideshare
- METRORail: The Red Line is the easiest rail option. Main Street Square Station and Bell Station are both within walking distance of House of Blues Houston, making this a good choice if you are coming from Midtown, the Museum District, the Texas Medical Center, or NRG Park.
- Green/Purple Lines: If you are coming from EaDo, the University of Houston, or the Theater District side, the Green and Purple Lines can also get you into Downtown with a short walk or transfer.
- Rideshare (Uber/Lyft): Drop-off near Caroline Street or Dallas Street is usually simple before the show, but pickup can get crowded after the encore. For an easier exit, walk a block or two away from the GreenStreet entrances before calling your ride.
House of Blues Houston Seating Chart
House of Blues Houston does not have one fixed seating chart for every show. The layout depends on the room, the artist, and whether VIP upgrades or reserved areas are being sold.
- Music Hall Floor: The main concert area is usually general admission standing room only. This is the best spot if you want to be close to the stage, but you should arrive early if you want a front-row or center-floor view.
- Balcony Seating: Some shows offer balcony seating or VIP upgrades. This can be a better choice if you want a more comfortable view without standing in the main floor crowd.
- VIP Tables: Select events may include table seating on the main floor or in premium areas. Availability changes by show, so check the ticketing page before buying.
- The Bronze Peacock: This smaller room is used for more intimate concerts and special events. Expect a closer, club-style experience with limited space.
- Foundation Room: This is the venue’s VIP lounge and dining area. It is useful for dinner, drinks, upgrades, and priority-entry options on certain show nights.

Venue Bag Policy & Security
House of Blues Houston uses a straightforward bag policy, but all guests should expect security screening before entering. The venue may use metal detection, wanding, pat-downs, and bag checks.
- Permitted Bags: Bags up to 12” × 6” × 12” are allowed inside the venue.
- Bag Search: All bags are searched before entry. Bags that are not clear may receive additional screening.
- Oversized Bags: Bags outside the size limit are not allowed and may need to be returned to your car.
- Prohibited Items: Weapons, pepper spray, outside food and drinks, drugs, professional cameras, audio/video recording equipment, selfie sticks, drones, laser pointers, masks, and similar restricted items are not allowed.
- Security Tip: Bring only what you need. A small clear bag or compact clutch will usually make entry faster.
Mobile Tickets, Cashless Payments & Entry Tips
Most House of Blues Houston concerts use mobile tickets through Live Nation or Ticketmaster, so download your tickets before arriving Downtown. Do not wait until you are in line to pull them up, because cell service can slow down when the crowd arrives at the same time.
The box office operates one hour before doors open on show days. If you have will-call tickets, bring a valid photo ID and the credit card used for purchase.
House of Blues Houston is also a cashless venue. All points of sale accept credit cards, debit cards, and mobile payments such as Apple Pay and Google Pay. If you only have cash, cash-to-card conversion is available on-site.
There is no re-entry for shows, so make sure you have everything you need before going inside.
Best Places to Eat & Drink Nearby
House of Blues Houston has one of the best Downtown locations for pre-show food and drinks. You can stay inside the venue for Foundation Room dining or walk to several restaurants and bars around GreenStreet, Toyota Center, and the Theater District.
- Foundation Room: The easiest pre-show option if you want dinner and drinks without leaving the building. For many shows, spending $25 or more in the Foundation Room can also qualify you for a Pass the Line voucher.
- Pappas Bros. Steakhouse: A polished Downtown steakhouse just a short walk from House of Blues. It is best for a nicer dinner before a weekend show or date night concert.
- Reserve 101: A great nearby whiskey bar for pre-show or post-show drinks. It is close enough to walk, but far enough from the main GreenStreet entrance to feel less hectic after the concert.
- Phoenicia Specialty Foods: A reliable casual option if you want something quick before doors open. It is good for Mediterranean food, sandwiches, pastries, coffee, and grab-and-go items.
- Biggio’s: Located at the Marriott Marquis, this is a convenient sports-bar style option for burgers, drinks, and a lively pre-show atmosphere, especially when there are other Downtown events happening.
